Hi Allei, SDHC may work, but need not. I have tested several SDHC-Cards up to 64GB in my Carminat Live and they al worked. But SDHC doesn't officialy supported by TomTom.

I have been waiting ages for the new map Europe without the stupid wrong road numbers and mistakenly thought it had arrived for my Go 6100. So last night at 00:30 hours (to get free internet use) I updated MyDrive then connected the satnav and started downloading what I thought was v9.75. It took 3 hours to download. MyDrive said my device was connected and to leave it connected which I did.

So I ordered the European Maps and bought an 8GB SD Card (Only one I could get quickly) I put the new card into my TomTom and then put the card into my PC and downlaoded the European Maps (which to my knowledge have UK & Ireland included) I did back upo the old card first through TOMTOM Home. From what I understand, I should have first restored my old card backup onto my new SD card and then put the new card into the TomTom Sat Nav. And then downloaded th eEurope Maps to my new Sd Card. I have tried the new card and it works fine for UK.
I bought my car in dec 2011. I had the same problem. I bought a 4 GB sd card and search this forum for answers. I had TomTom home, I had a subscription for West Europe and my Carminat Id was transferred to my subscription. What I did was the following: I put the new sd card in my Carminat and started the Carminat. Then wait until it says: no maps found (or something like that).

Mostly it helps to put the SDHC back in PC and delete the content of the 'loopdir'-directory at the root of the SDHC-Card. But beware, you lost all favorites, last targets and personally settings. Try it again in the Carminat.

I never put the SDHC-Cards first in the Carminat for initialization. I always manually copy the content of the original SD-Card to the SDHC-Card, I want to test, via Explorer.

I have now paid for a map which I cannot use!! Is it possible to use a regular SDHC card and will this work in my car??? Or can TomTom replace my SD card with one which will support the map. I have looked in the menu to make space and have deleted Benelux. But the issue is that the WE map is 1.8 G and the SD cards total memory is less.

Then I put it in the Carminat and wait until the Navigation screen and the clock appears. Sometimes you have to wait. The Carminat maybe reboots several times. If it reboots more than five or six times, there went something wrong.
After download to computer had finished it told me 'waiting for your device' and my satnav said 'connected to your computer'!! Why, after telling me it was already connected and not to disconnect?? Nothing changed by 02:00 so I ignored previous software instruction and disconnected and reconnected. Eventually the software started to update the satnav taking another hour. I went to sleep and - shock horror - on waking I found I had updated to v970 - the very version I had been trying to avoid. I am getting fed up with the most user-unfriendly software I have ever had the misfortune to waste time on. Now I read I have to wait a few more weeks for v975.
Update: The Europe map for GO 6x00/6x0/6x, GO 5x00/5x0/5x, GO400 will no longer contain Russia in the coverage of the zones. Russia will be covered in the full Europe 3D buildings map and in the Europe without 3D buildings map. Update 2: The following maps were released October 25th: - v975 of the Oceania, Australia and New Zealand maps for the new GO Wifi devices.

Maps to be released later - All Camper and Truck maps (v976 released October 3rd) - Europe for GO6x00/6x0/6x, GO 5x00/5x0/5x, GO400 (released September 20th. See below for more) - USA/Canada/Mexico for Uconnect NB: These maps will be released in mid/end Septemper. 
Maps for mobile apps are released a bit later, as always.
