Install Diablo 2 Without Cd
Each copy of the D2 game and the LOD expansion have their own CD keys. I tried to register the CD keys on their site but it wouldn't take. I contacted Blizzard and asked what I should do to get the download from their site.

So what I did is I went into my closet and dusted off the old game and started to install it on my computer (I have the Diablo 2 Regular and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction genuine cd's and CD-Keys, no copies or cracks here).

Diablo II won't accept my install disc. Discussion in 'Mac and PC Games' started by boppla, Oct 17, 2007. But after some research I have found out that the installer came with the CD in the Install Disc are only made for OS X version 9 or before, and OS X 10 and above must use the install patch provided by the site. I can't seem to find. How do I play without the CD? I've moved all of the.mpq files on the LoD disk to the Diablo II directory, yet it still says that I need a disk. I've followed the directions given by blizzard, yet I still can't get it to work.

This version of the loader is unable to load any plugins so it can't be used to load any further hacks, but again, it's your choice to run it. It should now run when you use D2 loader. So I went to my computer and successfully installed Diablo 2 Regular (Full Install) with the 3 CDs that came with the box (Install Disc, Play Disc and Cinematic's Disc). And after installing it I opened the game and got all of the updates to version 1.12 I think it was. So then I got off Diablo 2 regular and then I wanted to install the Expansion (Lord of Destruction = LoD).
Point of interest: it seems -nocleanup works backwards, ie 'no cleanup' is on by default and if you specify -nocleanup, D2Loader will go through the normal D2 shutdown procedures (close sound, unload DLLs, etc). Now that the cleanup ordinals are mapped, -nocleanup works nicely and does a 'graceful' close of Diablo II. While I don't want to change any defaults, I'd recommend you use -nocleanup on your command line to do a graceful exit instead of ExitProcess.
Re: Downloading D2 with no Cd drive? You can put those CD keys online into her battle.net account and it will convert them to newer versions and allow her to download digital copies of the games. You could also try to transfer files via the external hard-drive, but if you already have the game installed I think it will use your CD key. Someone else will have to comment on this.

Finally, FlushInstructionCache is called after patches are done to ensure no problems arise from not doing so. A word of warning, 'Warden' - Blizzard's new hack detection software - can easily be updated (if it doesn't already) to detect D2Loader usage. You take a risk as with any 3rd party hacks - while I personally would hope something as simple as self-muling and running without the CD is fairly harmless, it's ultimately up to Blizzard.
Patch 1.12 Downloadable Installer Support - If all required Diablo 2 '.MPQ' files are installed on the hard drive, the game will no longer require the CD to play. For users that originally performed a 'Full Installation' and wish to run without the CD, all '.MPQ' files should be copied from the Diablo 2 CDs to the Diablo 2 directory. Thank you Miss Cheetah, I did add the game keys to my battle net account and i downloaded the online installer for d2 and LOD. I ran the installer for d2 once it had downloaded but the first box up was the box to say make sure you have the disc in the cd drive, i cannot even get to the point of inputting the game key. As for LOD i will try the key from the battle net account, when i ran the installer i got the box for the game key, but it wanted a 26 digit key and the one on the box is only a 16 game key.
